“Hello everyone! Welcome back to Poetry by Lotus Radio. This is Kathy and no, I really don't have a, a radio personality but nevertheless it's actually my voice post. So, welcome back. Today I'm gonna read to you another poem, and you know, some days when it's gloomy like today, I rather read a poem just to make me smile. So, I hope this poem makes you smile as well. The title is "Finding Solace."

i stopped one day
to find a torn, worn out
word lying on the sidewalk
like a broken butterfly wing,
etched on the back
of a receipt--

a still lake held carefully
in the glass ball of the "o"
next to the mountain that sits
on the bar of the "h",
and the "e" hums quietly
next to the peace sign waving
around like a flag.

"hope is home," it reads.
i'm sure that this person
has found the solace he needed
to throw this word into the wind
like a prayer or a balloon
and hoped that someone comes along
the way to pick it up and pocket it
like a shiny, lucky penny.

that night,
the word slipped
under my pillow and into my dreams.
i found my home
as i flew over mountains and valleys,
touching and breathing in
drops of sunlight,
feeling my worries washed away
as they crashed into rocks
and fell downward with the waterfalls.

the next morning,
i let that small leaf of paper
flew out my car window
as i picked up speed on the highway

30, 40, 60...

in hopes that someone else
will catch that same solace
in their heart.

Thank you so much for listening to this voice post. I hope to see you again next time. Bye.”

“Hi everyone! This is Kathy also known as alotus_poetry on Livejournal. This is my first ever voice post, and... I must be having trouble doing this because I've never done it before, so this is probably my fourth attempt. It's okay. I hope everyone is all nice and warm because it's actually chilly outside where I am. If not, I'll warm you guys up with a wonderful poem that I've written back in November. What I did is NaPoWriMo which is National Poetry Writing Month which is actually back for... April, but I decided to do poetry in the month of November since everybody else is doing novel writing. So I'm going to read to you a poem, and I hope to do more of this in the future.

Untitled

You smell of sharp autumn chills
on an early Saturday morning

racing into my lungs
and closing down the histamine dams
of my bloodstream

The trees have not yet awaken
or danced with their windy partners

as the sun decides to snore on,
its rays buried beneath the black earth

Withering honeysuckles dotted the sidewalk
like abstract painting,
the last remnants of summer

I follow its yellow cement road
to a new day of work and care,
hoping that the clicking of my shoes
will soon take me home

Thank you so much for listening to this voice post, and I hope you enjoyed this poem. Have a good day, and stay warm. Bye!”
